Star Traders: Frontiers. Space captains are better served than ever for 2D Elite-ish games, but Star Traders: Frontiers is by far the best out there. Create your captain, pick a ship, and fill it with a crew of pilots, navigators, swordsmen, and whatever niche experts suit your needs. Space colonization (also called space settlement or extraterrestrial colonization) is the hypothetical permanent habitation and exploitation of natural resources from outside planet Earth. As such it is a form of human presence in space, beyond human spaceflight or operating space outposts. Very realistic representation of space & star systems. Elite Dangerous uses publicly available real world star maps that we have of the Milky Way consisting of 150,000 star systems. Although in the current beta, full access to the entire galaxy is limited, in the final game, you will be able to visit any of the 400 billion stars in our galaxy. There's also Endless Space from the 4X genre. 4X is a genre of strategy-based video and board games in which players control an empire and 'eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate'. The term was first coined by Alan Emrich in his September 1993 preview of Master of Orion for Computer Gaming World.

Thank you for choosing Star Arena.
Star Arena is a card based, 4X style, tactical and strategic game of competitive space colonization, with an addicting blend of resource management and card play, as well as game parameter creation.
Every player selects one of the unique 30-card Species decks, each with distinct Leaders to choose from that will guide their species to victory.
Using the SET deck, a 61 card mix of individual Systems, Events, and Treaties, players attempt to take control of a newly discovered and developing Known Quadrant, which the players create as the game progresses.
There are innumerable paths to Victory in the Star Arena.
With only eight turns, and a six phase per turn structure, will you be victorious against your alien opponents by showing superiority through Expansion? Perhaps by holding sway in Economics, Diplomacy, or Reserves? Or can you achieve mastery of the Star Arena using Culture, Industry, Military, Technology, and Tradition achievements?
Always changing, compellingly challenging, and ever competitive, the Star Arena will call you back, time and time again.

The Civilizations
One of the most Technologically advanced civilizations in the quadrant The Intellect Collective is a group of artificial and organic lifeforms from a number of disparate species. They share thoughts across vast distances through their N-Space network and use their huge computational power to accurately forecast future events. It is rumored that the Collective have a portal that can actually see into the future.

Not so much a species but more a of single, world-spanning transmorphic entity. Each cell of H’GRON can divide off and, once consuming enough material, become an entirely new copy of itself. Seemingly with all of its memories and abilities. These copies can later be reintegrated with the whole to gain their knowledge and memories. H’GRON disdains other sentient lifeforms and finds their presence an impediment to its continued growth.
The Raythvalen culture is one that promotes peaceful coexistence thru harmony and self discipline. Their belief is that through self-actualization, harmonious interactions with others, and simple compassion all life forms can have a more meaningful existence. For over 1000 years Raythvalen Peacekeeper forces have prevented most major conflicts between hated rivals from escalating to full scale warfare or genocide.
In the century and a half since they first expanded beyond their home system, the Terrans have made huge strides towards becoming a dominant force in the quadrant. Known for their impressive Industry, Terran trade is tightly controlled by the seventeen corporations that make up the Terran Omni-Conglomerate. Aggressive and unafraid, the Colonials have already had several ongoing conflicts with neighboring species including the H’GRON.
The Civilizations
Militaristic, opportunistic, and honorable, the Swarm have arrived, advancing and scavenging across the Known Quadrant. The Swarm are a caste-based insectoid species composed of Warriors, Adapters, and Workers. While every individual of the Swarm carries their own thoughts and beliefs they are born and bred to be members of their specific caste, and serve the Swarm Matron with total devotion and loyalty.
After the destruction of their home world over a millennium ago, the Suunvanee began to quietly create the greatest trade organization in the Known Quadrant.
With hubs, markets, and offices on every habitable planet, no boardroom or backroom deal exists without the sticky touch of their pseudo-pods.
Willing to negotiate with anyone, the Traders have immense resources at their disposal, as well as the power those resources can acquire.
For eons most species have had tales of immortal beings that feed off of the life force of their populations. Always lurking, forever hungering. The Undying have stepped from the shadows to harvest the bounty the resources of the Known Quadrant. Cultured, yet bestial, the Undying are an ancient threat, with more than enough military might to take whatever isn’t slavishly given to them.
Ikrann Engineers
Nearly one thousand years ago the Ikrann Engineers prevented
a galaxy spanning conflict. Then all traces of them vanished. Enigmatic beings, that are neither machine nor life forms, have been reported on many worlds. Entire star systems
have been moved from where they
should be. Have the Ikrann returned to help guide the younger races or is there a more sinister threat on the event horizon?
The Civilizations
For over 3,500 years the Imperium of Dandalius has provided a stable trade partner for culture and commerce amongst many of the smaller civilizations in the Known Quadrant. Now the leaders of the Noble houses completed a coup against the autocratic rule of the Emperor. Rather than risk a civil war, and billions of deaths, he has chosen exile, waiting for the time when his vengeance can be wrought upon those who have taken his rightful rule.
