Pie Chart - Add Percentages To Legend Key - Excel

View Answers
Hi,
Is there a way I can add the percentages to my legend key? I don't want the category name to be displayed around the pie chart, the names are too long and with the size of my chart it really clogs things up. Ideally, I'd like the percentages to be shown in the legend. Example:
Eliminated, 5%
Under Contract/Not Competitive, 9%
etc...

Hey everyone,
I'm really hoping someone can help me with this...
I need to plot percentages over time in a line graph in excel. I don't want to have to do a percentage equation in the spreadsheet, I just want excel to take two sets of values and display the percentage in the chart. For example, I need B1 as a percentage of B2 for week 1, C1 as a percentage of C2 for week 2, etc....
Can someone please offer a suggestion for how to do this? I would really appreciate it.
Also, would it be possible to link data from other sheets in the workbook into one single chart?

Pivot Chart Colors- How To Keep From Changing When Data Elements Are Added/removed? - Excel

I have a pivot chart with a bunch of data series, and every time we
include/exclude one of the series to see how the chart changes, all the
colors change and we have to spend time re-identifying which series is
which, using the legend to check the colors.
Is there a way to 'lock' the colors, so that the bars stay the same colors
regardless of whether other bars are included/excluded?
Thanks!

I am trying to correct a formula for a productivity worksheet in excel. The idea is that we would have the ability to input the number of hours worked each day and the number of direct hours (working with clients) per day. Then take the daily percentages and add them then devide them to determine the final productivity percentage for the week. Additionally not everyone works a full week so I would need it to only divide the percentages of the days that were completed. Any suggestions? or does anybody know a formula that would accomplish this already? I am good with basic excel and was able to identify a flaw in the current productivity sheet.
Seemingly super simple, but I can't figure it out.
When I create a bar chart, the bars are horizontal. I want the chart bars to be vertical. It tried to rotate the chart so that it is vertical, but the 'rotate' options are greyed out.
How do I get those bars vertical?

I have a spreedsheet that shows some percentages example( 9.98% and 15.87%) I am needing to find a way to hide the percentage sign so that they just show as 9.98 and 15.87. The problem I am having is that are been worked out as a percentage, so changing the format of the cell does not work.
Can anyone help?

A Bar Chart With Mutiple Bars, But Just 1 Is Stacked - Excel

I need to create a bar chart for the year. I've already have 3 bars for each of the months, a plan, an actual, and a last year. I need to be able to split out just the actual bar, so that it is a stacked bar. The other two bars need to stay and remain unstacked. Is this possible?
I have created an excel spreadsheet to track attendance of an exercise class I am teaching. I would like to know each person's current percent attendance. (so if we have had 5 classes and they have attended 4 of those classes then it should show 80%). I would like it to keep a running tab, so as I add in the person's attendace it will continue that count, up to the 26 classes that are being offered. I thought if I did a sumif/countif I could get it to work, but it doesn't. Here is what I tried: =sumif($e$4:$ad:4,'>0')/countif($e$4:$ad$4,'>1'). Do you have a suggestion that would work? Thanks!

Charts - Dynamically Adjust Min & Max Scale ?? - Excel

Regarding Charts in Excel:
Is there a way to have the Min and Max values adjusted dynamically for the Scale of the values being displayed ??
I know that I can use named ranges to display various sections of data -- month by month, or quarter by quarter, for example.
But when the value of these ranges vary greatly from section to section I end of having to manually go and adjust the Min and Max values of the chart scale.
For example, if I was looking at a graph of the S&P 500's prices last November, a Min and Max range of 750 to 1200 would be fine. But if I had a dynamic range established and scrolled over to view the S&P 500's prices for this past February, I would need a Min and Max range of around 650 to 850.
Is there a way to have these Min & Max values adjust automatically depending on the values being displayed ??
Thanks

Imagine a whole box of lengths of aluminium sections for making windows.
To make those windows I need to cut these lengths into smaller sizes.
I need to do this economically.
How can I use Excel to help me make this a reality.
Firstly you would take a big size out of it and then another size out of the offcut piece.
And then another size out of the offcut left over.
I need to know how many full stock lengths (6500) long it will take to cut all the pieces listed above.
Is it possible?
You need to take into account the quantity of each size and fit it all in together for the most optimal outcome.
See attached example of possible layout.
I have been using Excel (XP) to make a text chart for several months. Some of
my text entries are rather lengthy. The past two weeks these lengthy entries
are showing up as pound signs (#########) when I click off the cell. I know
the text will fit in the cell, and the problem isn't solved by making the
cell bigger or using a little bit less text. I have the cells formatted as
'text' and 'wrap to fit'. I have printed the pages and the printed version
also has pound signs. I just want my text to show up!

Value Of Active Cell To Appear In Different Cell - Excel

I would like the contents of a selected active cell to be displayed in a certain other cell, say R4. When another cell is selected and active, that cell's contents should be displayed.
I have an array of 9 columns and 20 rows with equity symbols and conditionally formatted to show the severity of price movement in either direction.
Instead of typing in the value of whatever cell a trader is looking at I would like for them to just be able to click on the cell and have that symbol copied into R4 so some detailed information can be displayed for them.
Can't find a thing about this on any forum or msdn.
Hope I'm explaining this at least somewhat clearly.
Thanks.

I have some experience working with advanced filter for things like >100 but that's about it. Any help with this would be so appreciated.
When using the copy and paste function it is extremely slow to paste the
result. Also the file size seems to be increasing to a much larger size for
no reason.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Vba Lock And Protect Cells Or Range Of Cells - Excel

Corporate edict.
I have a worksheet that is locked and protected now, except for cells in a certain collumn. I have named the cells in that column 'MS96A'.
If a user enters a date in a cell or range of cells anywhere in the column, the changed cells also need to be locked and protected (Once they enter a date, it is not allowed EVER to be changed again. Corporate requirement! *Shrug*).
What I am looking for is this. If the user selects that cell again, they will get the usual pop-up message, 'The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected...'
I think I am close, but I am getting an 'End If without block If' error on the If Clause.
Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
Dim MRange As Range
Set MRange = Range('MS96A')
' If Not Intersect(Target, MRange) Is Nothing ThenFor Each cell In MRangeSheets('Sheet1').Unprotect Password:='temp'
cell.Interior.ColorIndex = 3
cell.Font.Color = vbBlack
Selection.Locked = True
Selection.FormulaHidden = False
Next cell
ActiveSheet.Protect Password:='temp', _

Numbers Converting To Scientific Formats In .csv Files - Excel

I know this question has been asked a bajillion times, so I apologize for the redundancy.
I am working with an Excel spreadsheet and saving it as a .csv file in order to upload to an application that parses out the .csv data as transactions. The system requires .csv files, so this is how I need to save my doc (with this extension). I have been successful at preventing Excel from coverting that long number into scientific format. I have saved as a TXT file, pasted the longer number and it displays correctly. That is all good. But I have to save as a .csv. So if I do that, close the Excel window, and then open again (as the .csv file), the numbers are back to being displayed in scientific format. I have tried creating an Excel doc from scratch and entering text in Text format, to see if this created a cleaner file. But again, the second I save as .csv, close the window and then open that file up again, that dang scientific format is back.
Does anyone have any idea of how to work around this? Once I have successfully gotten the numbers to display as the long-chain number, how can I get them to 'stick' so that they don't revert back to scientific format when I reopen the file?
Thanks so much for your help!

Moving Rows To Another Sheet Based On A Certain Field's Value - Excel

Hi Excel experts,
I am working on a worksheet, and would like to have an entire row transferred to another worksheet based upon a certain cell's value.
Having searched through the many solved threads on this site, I attempted to customize some of the code to my worksheet. Not being proficient in Macro/VBA, I failed. I figured I would ask for help, and see if anyone can provide what I am looking for.
Basically, I am attempting to construct a 'work in process' file, and would like all completed work to be deleted from the work in process sheet, and transferred to a sheet that contains a running list of all work completed.
Attached is an example of what I am working on. I would like Column Q (Status) to determine if a row can be moved to a sheet that contains the list of all work completed, and eliminated from the original sheet. Once Status is updated to 'Complete', it would be helpful to be able to run a macro/click a button that would perform the transfer.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks!

So Large File That Excel Cannot Open It... - Excel

I have a file that became too big due to phantom bloat, unused range saved by Excel and all that kind of reasons. Thank to previous posts on that board tackling that issue, I was able to find how to proceed to reduce the file back to its normal size.
But I did so in a beta file (test file). The real file has become so big (103MB!) that Excel cannot even open it anymore! The file contains archive info that we do not have anywhere else.
Is there anyway then to open the file or to reduce its size without opening it (through magics...)? I just honestly don't know how to retrieve that info before deleting that file.
Thank you very much for your help.
Add percentage and value to pie chart excel

Assuming your percentage cell is A1, then in another cell place a formula =1-A1, now select A1 and the formula cell and insert a pie chart and set the fill color of the undesired data point to no fill.
